Muscle relaxant injection
In some cases, in order to achieve optimal results with the Regenerative treatment, we recommend some specific muscle relaxant injections to weaken the dynamic wrinkles caused by facial expressions. This allows the IPRF to be more effective. iPRF is very effective for static wrinkles. The repetition of Regenerative treatments significantly diminishes the need for Botulinum toxin in dynamic lines.
Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin derived from Clostridium botulinum, an organism found in the natural environment where it is largely inactive and non-toxic. The toxin is used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by paralyzing the underlying muscles. We use this when necessary, on forehead, between eyebrows and around the eyes.
The treatment
During this treatment we use a very thin needle, and with no or very little pain. It takes 10-15 minutes, no downtime, some patients receiving report the injections feel like a pinch. You may begin to notice a visible smoothing of frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines within 24 to 48 hours, with results lasting up to 4 months for moderate to severe frown lines.
This is not a permanent treatment. If you discontinue treatment the moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines will gradually return.
Because this medication is given at the site of your condition, most of the side effects occur close to where the medication is injected. Redness, bruising, infection, and pain at the injection site may occur.
In rare cases, there may be a drooping lid or eyebrow area. Ptosis (a severe drooping of the eyelid) can occur in up to 5% of patients but is very rare if the cosmetic surgeon does this procedure often. These complications are typically very minor occurrences and resolve with time.
